Air conditioning and refrigeration mechanic - nqf level 4

The purpose of this skills qualification is to prepare a learner to operate as an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic

An Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Mechanic installs, commissions, services, maintains, overhauls, repairs and troubleshoots air conditioning refrigeration and ventilation systems in accordance to customer’s requirements, industry and national standards in compliance with relevant national Legislation.

A qualified learner will be able to: Install air conditioning refrigeration ventilation systems. Commission air conditioning refrigeration and ventilation system.

Coded welding - nqf level 4

The purpose of the skills programme it to prepare a learner to operate as a Coded Welder who is able to demonstrate his/her ability to meet pre-defined criteria by producing welded test coupon/s in accordance with the parameters specified in a qualified welding procedure specification (WPS)

The learner will be able to produce welds of high quality within a short space of time and the produced welds must meet the required visual, non-destructive and if applicable the destructive evaluation acceptance criteria as defined by the relevant welding code. Apply generic and process specific health and safety principles and practices to produce positional welds using the following processes and materials

  • SMAW/MMA Process – material to be carbon steel and carbon steel consumables
  • GMAW/MIGMAG Process On carbon steel, using solid wire consumables only (ER70-S-6)
  • GTAW/TIG Process on carbon steel material, using carbon steel and stainless-steel consumables.

The main focus of the learning is to develop an understanding of health, safety and environment practices concepts commonly associated with and to practice in a cellphone Repair industry.

  • develop an understanding of cellphone electronics, concepts and principles commonly associated with the telecommunication field and to practice in a Cellphone Repair industry.
  • develop an understanding of tools, measuring instruments and equipment commonly associated with and to practice in a Cellphone Repair industry.
  • practice and develop an understanding of Cellphone disassembly and reassembly techniques, methods, concepts and principles commonly associated with and to practice in a Cellphone Repair industry.
  • Practice and understand the techniques, methods and procedures to Troubleshoot, Repair and Maintenance of Cellphones.
  • Practice and understand the techniques, methods and procedures to handle Software and Firmware on Cellphones.
  • Practice and understand the techniques, methods and procedures to de-solder and solder Cellphone components.
  • Develop an understanding of how to properly prepare self for the world of work as well as developing understanding of starting a Cellphone Repair Business.
